Building Power, Patience, and Self-Worth as a Marginalized Person (feat. Cyrus)

A Messy Mom and Bougie Gay Uncle link up!

Surprise! My first time doing to two live streams in a week and not even 24 hours apart!

Had a fabulous afternoon kiki with everyone’s favorite bougie gay uncle! We gushed over Jazmine Sullivan, talked about the non-binary struggles of navigating self-presentation, and dived deep into what it takes to build self-worth as a marginalized person.

One of my favorite takeaways was when Cyrus beautifully reframed the power of one’s success taking a little longer. They imparted that it gives us a chance to build our own selfhoods before our respective industries try to dictate what it is. As a creative, this whole convo was so enlightening and soulful. Also it’s not everyday I get to kiki with a fellow non-binary comedian-so what a thrill it was to have this time together!

Thank you to everyone who tuned in! Join me for my next live video in the app on Monday at our regular time, 9pm ET/6pm PT!
