Nine years ago, my life changed forever when a random Tinder date that I went on, to mine material for stand-up, turned out to be the love of my life. In the first few years, I would always ask couples that had been together longer than us (even if it was by a month) what the secret to their relationship’s success was. Now that we’ve made it pretty far ourselves, I thought it’d be fun to pose that question to Matthew. By no means would I ever call us experts on relationships, but we are experts on OUR relationship. So hopefully what we share is helpful to anyone who needs it.
Matthew, you light my world up. The gift of being your spouse has changed me forever. Thank you for taking me as I am. For loving my flaws. For championing my dreams. For investing in our love. For filling in the cracks of my heart with your love. For believing in our relationship. For never walking away. For committing to your own healing so that you could show up for us. Watching you over the last nine years continue you step into yourself, and define what it means to live with an open-heart has been a privilege. The way you prioritize joy, kindness, and generosity inspires me. I feel a bottomless well of gratitude for the backbone you’ve been for me. For loving the parts of me my family couldn’t. For protecting me, and making sure that our home is a soft and safe landing place. You are a dream come true, and I love you forever. Happy Anniversary!!!

And in case you haven’t heard it yet today, you are so deeply loved. I love you.
In some ways I envy those not born in the Baby Boomer generation. Mostly liberated from the stigmas of love, passion and relationships. No guilt, just love. I don't agree with Drag Queen Story Hour with tots, children and minors as it may be overtly grooming. I do not know if this is behavioral from abandonment and/or rejection or natural. When I was in India 1981, I had a hermaphrodite dream and the next day the dream came true. I wondered for decades now why did I have this experience? The best I can come up with is do not judge a life you are not living. I am also convinced the vast majority of today's generations and subsequent generations do not and will not think same sex couples, dating, and making love a big thing. Even in nations that torture and execute gays, the fact is, that with that intense fear and paranoia in these nations, sane normal people cannot stop their urges. This is too powerful.
This is so beautiful. Happy anniversary to you both! ❤️❤️
